Mumbai: Television’s golden era is set to return as Smriti Irani, the face behind one of Indian TV’s most iconic characters, Tulsi Virani, makes a powerful comeback in the reboot of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Seventeen years after the original show concluded, Irani reprises her beloved role in Ekta Kapoor’s much-awaited revival of the daily soap, which premieres on July 29 at 10:30 p.m. on Star Plus and JioCinema.

First launched in 2000, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi quickly became a cultural phenomenon, dominating Indian households for eight years. With its emotional storytelling, complex family drama, and timeless characters, the show holds a special place in the hearts of millions. Now, the nostalgia returns with a modern twist.

A teaser released by the channel shows a family dining in a restaurant while the iconic theme song plays in the background. A mother is stunned to see Tulsi back on screen as her son excitedly reveals the show’s comeback. The teaser ends with a graceful shot of Tulsi watering the sacred basil plant as she declares, “It’s time to meet you all again.”

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Smriti Irani shared a throwback image from the original series, writing:

Ekta Kapoor’s production house confirmed the reboot, calling it “an all-new story that reintroduces Tulsi to a new generation while holding on to everything that made her unforgettable.”
